Belgium, full of potential
Belgium is one of the fastest-growing solar energy installations in Europe and is expected to register a growth of more than 8% in the coming years. The Belgian government is taking great strides in having a succesful energy transition. Their National Energy and Climate Plan has set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector, amounting to 35% by 2030. In addition to this, the Belgian government has planned to generate at least 1 GW solar capacity annually starting from 2020.
And to top it off, the country has pledged to source all its electricity supply from renewable sources by 2030, which is guaranteed to boost solar PV deployment across the country.
This huge market potential is paralleled with consistently declining costs and steadily improving efficiency of PV-installations. Add to this the possibilities that batteries or heat pump systems provide to increase the yield of energy production and it’s clear that a bright solar future lies ahead.
